Everest Explores Trek

This is the ultimate Everest trek, designed for those with a good level of fitness; it is the longest, hardest, and most rewarding trek in the region. By the time you have finished you will have crossed two major passes, climbed the best lookouts, explored three valleys, marvelled at monasteries and have some really tall tales to tell! Enroute you will meet trekkers wishing that they could be doing what you are, because this is the best trek in the Sagamartha National Park. And as a bonus you will get to see yaks and plenty of wildlife – but we can’t promise the Yeti!

2 Kathmandu All day 1300 Easy
Sightseeing Day see Kathmandu Day Trips for ideas of what to do.
3 Kathmandu - Lukla – Phakdhing 4 hours 2610 Easy
Early morning fly to Lukla and walk to Phakding. The flight has great views of about 200 km of the eastern Himalayas. After arriving in Lukla we walk through picturesque Sherpa villages to Phakding.
4 Phakdhing - Namche Bazaar 6 hours 3450 Easy
Criss-cross several bridges over the Dudhkoshi river we then begin the long climb up to Namche Bazaar. During the climb there are views of Everest through pine forest. Namche is the main trading spot of the Khumbu region and has bakeries, Email service, money exchange, equipment shops, Sherpa Museum, and the National Park Headquarters.
5 Namche Bazaar all day 3450 Easy
Acclimatization day. Use today to rest and explore the surrounding villages of Khumjung and Kunde, take in the sights and sounds of this famous bazaar, or check out the schools and hospitals set-up by Sir Edmund Hillary.
6 Namche Bazaar - Tengboche 6 hours 3860 Easy
Early morning views of Mt Everest with breakfast before a flattish walk and then downhill to Phunki Tenga where we then climb up to Tengboche.
7 Tengboche all day 3860 Easy
A day to explore the views around Tengboche and to visit the stunning monastery. This World Heritage site was originally built in 1916 but was destroyed by an earthquake in 1934. The rebuilt Gompa was then again destroyed in 1989 by fire, but the new buildings are true to the original designs and form an idyllic setting for the 30 or so young monks who live here.
8 Tengboche - Dingboche 6 hours 4343 Easy
Onwards towards Everest! A downhill section to Pangboche (the highest year-round settlement) takes us through stone walled villages to Dingboche where there is a high altitude clinic.
9 Dingboche - Lobuche 5 hours 4910 Moderate
This is what trekking is all about, amazing views, laboured breathing, and the prospect of a comfortable camp with some delicious food inside you. Take your time and pace yourself, rushing here will reduce your reserves for later stages, and why not stop and take an extra few pictures anyway?
10 Lobuche - Base Camp - Ghorakshep 9 hours 5190 Moderate
The trek up to Ghorakshep takes us on to visit Everest Base Camp where we relax and imagine having to spend months here on an expedition! Back down to Ghorakshep for the night.
11 Ghorakshep - Kalaptthar - Lobuche 7 hours 5560 Moderate
An early start to catch the sunrise views from Kalapattar of Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, and Pumori is just above us, and the Khumbu Glacier in front. From here we head down to Lobuche and a relaxing afternoon.
12 Lobuche - Dzonglha 6 hours 4730 Moderate
First we head down past a row of stone monuments to Sherpas who have died on Everest expeditions. Then a steady climb around Tsholo Lake to the camp at Dzonglha.
13 Dzonglha - Cho La - Dragnag 9 hours 5420 Moderate
The hardest day of the trek so far, our approach to the Cho La is across a small glacier and then a steep climb up to the pass for some stunning views. The Cho La always has some ice and snow which is occasionally deep. We may need light crampons to get through this section. Down the other side of the pass brings us to our camp at Dragnag.
14 Dragnag - Gokyo 4 hours 4790 Easy
Leaving Dragnag we cross the Gokyo glacier and then trek up past the second lake to relax, unwind and reminisce on the trek so far.
15 Gokyo all day 5483 Moderate
Wake up early to hike up Gokyo RI (5,483m), once at the top we can relax and enjoy the panoramic views of Everest, Cho Oyu and Makalu. The afternoon is spent exploring the surrounding minor peaks and relaxing.
16 Gokyo - Renjo La - Angladumba Tso 8 hours 5430 Moderate
Now that we are fit and acclimatised we head around the second lake and up a steep climb to the Renjo La. This pass is sometimes technical and fixed ropes may need to be used. Once over the pass we scramble down to Angladumba Tso (5,100m) where will we camp for the night. We are now in the upper reaches of the Bhote Khosi valley - a rarely visited and wild section of the Himalaya.
17 Angladumba Tso – Thyangmoche 5 hours 3800 Easy
The only thing you are likely to see today (apart from mountains) is yaks and the occasional herder as we walk down the Bhote Khosi valley past seasonal pastures to Thyangmoche.
18 Thyangmoche all day 3800 Easy
Today we visit one of the oldest Stupas in the region at Thame. This serene spot is an ideal place to absorb the splendour of the mountains and reflect on the days just gone. Take it easy and breath the fresh mountain air while you can fill your lungs with it.
19 Thyangmoche - Namche Bazaar 4 hours 3450 Easy
An easy day of trekking to Namche Bazaar where you can pick up those souvenirs you promised yourself on the way through the first time!
20 Namche Bazaar – Phakdhing 6 hours 2610 Easy

A very easy day retracing our steps, enjoy stopping off at tea shops and perhaps do a little shopping for souvenirs along the way.

21 Phakdhing – Lukla 4 hours 2850 Easy
Take your time and perhaps plan your next trip to the Himalaya on our final day in the mountains. At Lukla we celebrate the end of the trek!
22 Lukla - Kathmandu 35 minutes 1300 Easy
Early morning fly to Kathmandu and drive to Hotel. Final Day end of trek debrief and departure.

Note: Above day to day itinerary may be change depending on weather and flight.
