Overview
Mera Peak Climbing
Mera Peak Climbing is one of the most remarkable trekking destinations in Nepal, located in one of the lesser-known regions near Khumbu. The highlight of this climb is the breathtaking view of several of the world’s highest peaks above 8,000 meters. Over the course of 17 days, you will experience authentic Sherpa culture, lush scenery, and unique trekking trails. The journey will take you through Makalu Barun National Park, with its high meadows and alpine passes. You’ll encounter traditional Sherpa villages, chilly moraines, and towering glaciers while trekking in the sparsely populated Hinku Valley.
Our adventurous Mera Peak Climbing begins with a scenic flight to Lukla, the bustling gateway to the Khumbu region. From there, we will take a less-explored route toward the Hinku Valley. As we trek through dense forests of rhododendron, oak, silver fir, birch, and juniper, we will pass small settlements with stone houses until we reach the challenging Zwatra La Pass at 4,610 meters. Continuing on, we will be rewarded with stunning views of snow-capped peaks, serene lakes, and the Mera Glacier as we approach the summit. After passing through the villages of Thangnak and Khare, we will finally reach base camp to prepare for our ascent.
At the summit of Mera Peak, we will take time to appreciate the panoramic views of Everest, Kanchenjunga, Lhotse, Cho Oyu, and Makalu, capturing the moment with summit photos before descending to High Camp, Base Camp, and Khare. As we make our way back to Lukla, we will pass through charming settlements with refreshing teahouses surrounded by lush landscapes, before flying back to Kathmandu.
To undertake Mera Peak Climbing, you must be physically fit, as we will be walking steeply uphill for 6 to 7 hours a day in a high-altitude environment. Familiarity with the use of ice axes and crampons is also necessary. The best seasons for climbing Mera Peak are from March to June and October to December. Join this trip for a unique experience with breathtaking mountains away from the beaten track, and immerse yourself in an extraordinary culture. Gather your gear and prepare for an adventure!
