Overview
Chulu East Peak Climbing
The Chulu East Peak climb takes you through stunning landscapes enriched by the vibrant culture of the Gurung people in the Annapurna region. As you navigate through pine and rhododendron forests and ascend to an alpine pass, you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking views of the Annapurna massif, including attractions like Glacier Dome, Dhaulagiri, Gangapurna, Tilicho, and the peak of Manaslu.
We begin the Chulu East trek at Chame, following the Marshyangdi Valley. Our journey includes crossing the remarkable Thorong La Pass (5,416m) to reach the base camp. After setting up a secondary high camp, we’ll attempt to summit Chulu East Peak. The summit offers unparalleled views of Annapurna II, III, IV, Gangapurna, Manaslu, Pisang Peak, and Chulu West Peak—so don’t forget your camera!
As we continue our adventure, we will trek to Manang via the Marshyangdi Valley. The second part of our experience includes a trek to Jomsom, passing by the mesmerizing Tilicho Lake and the less-frequented Tilicho La (5,260m), which is a high-altitude variant of the famous Annapurna Circuit. We will then traverse Mesokanta La Pass to reach Jomsom and eventually Pokhara, concluding our journey back to Kathmandu.
This trek offers stunning views of the Annapurna Great Barrier. Chulu East Peak climbing is considered non-technical, but participants should maintain good physical fitness and have some familiarity with using crampons, ice axes, and ropes. The ideal times to embark on this trek are from September to November and March to May.
