Lower Dolpo Circuit trek
Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu
The day has finally arrived! You will land at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, Nepal. After you land, you will obtain your visa, and our staff will be there to pick you up and transfer you to your hotel. Once at the hotel, you can freshen up and rest or choose to explore the city.

Day 2: Trek Preparation Day
Today, we will issue your permits, and you are free to explore the city. Discover Kathmandu’s monuments, cuisine, and culture. Our guide will also meet with you to provide information about the trek and assist you with your gear.

Day 3: Kathmandu to Nepalgunj by Flight
Today, you will leave the bustling city and fly to Nepalgunj. Your journey begins! Nepalgunj is a town situated in the Terai region and serves as a major hub for exports and imports.

Flight Duration: 1 hour
Day 4: Nepalgunj to Dunai by Flight
Your journey towards the Dolpo region begins today. The flight departs from Nepalgunj, and within 35 minutes, you will land at Juphal Airport. After landing, you will trek towards Dunai. The trail begins with a descent through fields and villages, following the Bheri River and crossing Roop Ghar. After approximately 3 hours of hiking, you will arrive in Dunai, where you will stay overnight.

Flight Duration: 35 minutes; Trek Duration: 3 hours
Day 5: Dunai to Chhepka
After breakfast, we will depart from Dunai. You will descend toward the Bheri Khola and then trek to Sulighat, which is a checkpoint for the National Park. After Sulighat, the trail leads through suspension bridges and villages. After several hours of trekking, you will reach Chhepka, where you will spend the night.

Day 6: Chhepka to Jharana
Today, you will trek through a dense forest and ascend a broad grassy plateau. Continuing on your trail, you will pass through Rechi and Sanduwa. You will then follow the riverbank of Phoksundo Khola until you reach Jharana Hotel, your destination for the day. Along the way, you will be captivated by breathtaking views, waterfalls, forests, and landscapes.

Day 7: Jharana to Phoksundo
Your journey begins with an uphill trek through cedar and pine forests. The trail takes you to Polam, where there is another checkpoint. After that, you will continue your journey and be greeted by a stunning sight: Phoksundo Lake. The views are both breathtaking and mesmerizing. The trail then descends through the forest, following the path of Phoksundo Khola, leading you to Phoksundo (also known as Ringmo), where you will stay for the night.

Day 8: Phoksundo Rest Day
Today is designated as a rest day. You can explore the village and experience its cultural aspects. Feel free to take pictures and videos of the stunning surroundings. Enjoy your day of relaxation!

Day 9: Phoksundo to Yak Kharka
The trek from Phoksundo to Yak Kharka starts with an easy walk along a gentle path. You will pass through a forest filled with oaks, pines, cypress, and many other trees. The beautiful landscapes, mountains, waterfalls, and rivers will be a spectacular reward during your journey. You will spend the night in Yak Kharka.

Day 10: Yak Kharka to Danigar
Leaving Yak Kharka behind, you will head toward Temche, also known as Bagala La Base Camp. Be prepared as the elevation rises after Yak Kharka. You will cross the Bagala La Pass (5169 m) before reaching Danigar. After crossing the pass, you will descend toward Danigar.

Trek Duration: 7 hours
Day 11: Danigar to Numala Base Camp
Leaving Danigar, you will follow the riverside path and ascend toward the Numala La Pass (5309 m), one of the highest passes in the region. After crossing the pass, you will descend to Numala Base Camp, your stop for the day.

Day 12: Numala Base Camp to Dho Tarap
After breakfast, you will leave Numala Base Camp. Today’s trail includes multiple bridge and stream crossings. You will encounter villages and stupas along the way, highlighting the trek’s cultural aspects. Near the end of your journey, you will visit the Crystal Mountain School before reaching Dho Tarap, where you will spend the night.

Day 13: Dho Tarap to Kharka
After breakfast, you will begin your ascent towards Maran. The trail leads you through the Tahari Khola to the Jhyarkoi La Pass (5360m). This pass requires significant effort due to its steep ascent. Once you navigate the pass, you will continue on your way to Kharka.

Trek Duration: 7 hours
Day 14: Kharka to Chharka Bhot
From Kharka, you will make your way to Mola La Pass (5030m). This pass is easier compared to those in the Dolpo section. The trail then leads you to Chharka Bhot, a hidden valley village inhabited by an indigenous community. You will spend the night here.

Trek Duration: 5.5 hours
Day 15: Chharka Bhot to Nulungsumda Kharka (Doban)
Leaving Chharka Bhot, today’s journey will be a bit challenging as you will ascend and cross various streams and bridges. You will follow the Chharka Tulsi Khola and Thasan Khola before reaching Nulungsumda Kharka.

Day 16: Nulungsumda Kharka (Doban) to Galden Guldun
Today’s trek involves crossing two passes. You will first encounter Niwas La Pass (5120m), followed by the uphill trail to Jungben La Pass (5550m), one of the highest passes in the Dolpo region. After crossing Jungben La, you will descend towards the Galden Guldun Khola camp, where you will set up for the night.

Day 17: Galden Guldun to Santa, then to Jomsom by Jeep
You will leave Galden Guldun Khola and head towards Santa (3777m). Upon arrival in Santa, your driver will be waiting to pick you up. After loading your gear, you will be driven to Jomsom, where you can enjoy the scenic landscapes.

Day 18: Jomsom to Pokhara by Flight/Jeep, then Flight to Kathmandu
On the last day of your Lower Dolpo Circuit trek, you will take a flight to Pokhara. After landing in Pokhara, you can choose to take another flight or a jeep ride to Kathmandu.

Trek Duration: 20 minutes Jomsom-Pokhara flight, 25 minutes Pokhara to Kathmandu
